1. Embrace reality.

Be honest and assess whether you are a flat growth or high growth company.

2. Talk to each other.

One of the biggest wins you can get is meeting people and building relationships with them.

Make sure you understand their level of understanding and be the teacher.

3. Submit reports and make sure people read them.

Send reports at a regular cadence and make visuals easy to understand.

4. Evangelize internally.

Most people don’t know what all this means, so teach them. Form the company through:

Walk stakeholders through reports. Organization of lunch and learning. Give credit to people who do good work. Intentionally take time to educate.

5. Celebrate victories publicly.

Tell people they’re doing a good job.

Highlight stories via emails/videos, engage them in essential department updates, or even create some swag they can show off!

6. Encourage friendly competition.

Gamify the experience!

Reward the top performing content on the web, who managed the most tickets, or other easy and profitable ways like free lunches, gift cards and happy hours!

7. Eliminate process inefficiencies.

Look for inefficiencies in your processes and eliminate them.

8. Chase people.

Be persistent, consistent, attentive and annoying.

Once you start the conversation and other teams see how easy it is, they’ll understand how important it is to the business.

Ultimately, the goal is to create content and experiences that capture the hearts and minds of your customers. Once this is done, the search engines will follow.

The only algorithm that matters is your customers’ needs and wants.

You need to create systems that facilitate teamwork so that your organization is agile, allowing you to connect with your users for long-term success.
