Instagram will expand its subscription feature outside of the United States for the first time in the coming weeks.
After successfully rolling out this capability in America last year, the social platform has announced plans to roll it out to 10 more countries, including:
Australia Brazil Canada France Germany Italy Japan Mexico Spain United Kingdom
Instagram will continue to expand access to this feature globally in the coming months, allowing content creators around the world to earn more money from their followers.
Why we care. Through paid subscription services, brands and influencers can develop deeper connections with their most engaged followers, which could lead to more conversions and higher ROI. In addition, it is also an opportunity for brands and individuals to increase their monthly income by giving subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits for a monthly fee.
How it works. Brands and influencers have the freedom to set their own monthly price. In exchange for paying this fee, fans unlock a subscribe button on the content creator’s profile. Unlocking this door will give them access to a number of benefits which may include:
Subscriber posts, stories, reels and lives: In addition to posting to their main channel, content creators can share additional material in the form of reels, posts, and stories, which are only accessible to paid subscribers.
Subscriber Highlights: Any new content shared by a creator is automatically saved to a prominent location that is only visible to subscribers. This makes it very easy for subscribers to stay up to date.
Social channels and subscriber broadcast: Due-paying followers may also receive exclusive access or information to subscriber-only channels.
Subscriber Badges: Subscribers will appear with badges next to their name when commenting on posts, making them easier to identify so content creators can prioritize engagement with those particular accounts.
