WooCommerce is announcing a partnership with TikTok that invites all WooCommerce store owners to a new program that allows merchants to market directly to TikTok users from a TikTok store.
The new program, currently in beta, gives store owners access to an audience of more than 150 million, 61% of which engage in e-commerce behaviors.
WooCommerce merchants have the opportunity, as early adopters, to sell products directly on TikTok and get sales before the service formally opens up to more merchants.
TikTok is a shopping channel
Although TikTok is generally thought of as a place to watch videos, it is actually very consumer oriented.
TikTok statistics provided to Search Engine Journal show that 1 in 4 TikTok users use the platform to research products or make a purchase after watching TikTok.
This is not surprising considering how influencers with audiences of up to millions post reviews and advice on TikTok.
Many users turn to TikTok for inspiration in fashion, makeup, sports, and other retail-related topics.
In accordance with TikTok Insights Statistics:
The TikTok community is 1.5 times more likely to buy something they discover on the platform. 95% of TikTok users agree that finance-related topics are very important to them. 92% of TikTok users said they take action after watching a TikTok. 81% of TikTok users who made a back-to-school purchase said the platform played a role in the purchases/gifts purchased. 44% of Gen X TikTok users say the platform helps them discover new things. 37% of TikTok users immediately bought something they discovered through the platform. 38% of TikTok users have convinced a friend or family member to buy a product they discovered on the platform. TikTok users spend 14% more when TikTok is part of the retail journey
TikTok and WooCommerce store
WooCommerce has an existing relationship with TikTok in the form of its TikTok for WooCommerce ad platform plugin that launched in 2022.
Most recently, WooCommerce launched support for TikTok Smart Performance campaigns.
TikTok Shop is an expansion of this relationship that will allow merchants to bring their entire inventory to TikTok to sell their products directly to consumers on that platform.

There are no minimum or maximum inventory limits for the amount of products that can be added to TikTop Stores.
TikTok Shop launched in the US for Alpha testing in early November 2022. TikTok moved its testing from Alpha to Beta in April 2023 to allow more merchants to join the ongoing TikTok Shop test in the USA
The TikTok Shop platform is well-tested. TikTok first launched TikTok Shop for businesses in Southeast Asia and the UK, and began slowly rolling out support with select US brands late last year.

We asked Steve Deckert, VP of Business Development at WooCommerce, what types of products are predicted to do well on TikTok.
Steve replied:

Steve emphasized the importance of this opportunity for WooCommerce merchants:

How to Sign Up for WooCommerce TikTok Stores
The TikTok Store is currently in beta and is available for WooCommerce merchants.
Beta means a phase of software development when the product is complete, with all features fully functional.
Beta users are the first to try the full-featured service before it’s widely released.
This represents a huge opportunity for WooCommerce merchants to generate an extraordinary amount of sales.
