Drug charges follow robbery at Cortlandville Tractor Supply

Two City of Cortland men are facing felony charges following an investigation into a report of a man robbing Tractor Supply on Route 13 and then taking off in a vehicle.

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say they were called to the business in the city of Cortlandville on Sunday, Aug. 7 when Tractor Supply staff said they saw a man steal something and then leave.

Officers, who were nearby when the call came in, were able to find a vehicle matching the description given by employees and stopped it.

During the investigation, authorities say they found Michael Rogers, 54, and Anthony Sigler, 29, both of the city of Cortland, who also matched the description of the suspects given by store workers.

Deputies say they found “a substantial amount” of heroin and methamphetamine packaged for sale in Rogers and Sigler’s vehicle.

Rogers and Sigler are each charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. This is a class B felony.

The sheriff’s office says Rogers was already free on his own recognizance from an arrest made by the Cortland County Drug Task Force on May 25, 2022. In that case, Rogers is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. with intent to sell methamphetamine and heroin, multiple counts of 2nd degree possession of drug paraphernalia and 5th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

For the Aug. 7 arraignment, Rogers was booked into the Cortland County Jail.

Seigler was released on his own recognizance after Sunday’s arrest and ordered to appear in Court in Cortlandville later this month.
