Google updates the Page Indexing report in Search Console with more detailed issues

Google has updated its indexing report for pages in Google Search Console with more “major” issues. This is only a reporting change and does not change the processing of your website, John Mueller said on Twitter.

The question. Some SEO experts noticed an increase in issues being reported in this indexing report in Search Console. But Google didn’t publish any annotations that could explain it, so some thought the problems were with their websites.

Here’s an example from Michelle Twitter:

Google made a change. Google’s John Mueller explained on Twitter that there are delays in adding annotations to the report. he said, “We are adding an annotation.” He added: “Somehow the posting of the annotation was delayed, sorry.”

what changed John said they added that “more information about page indexing issues is now available. As a result, you may see an increase in the portion of issues being reported. This is not a change in processing of your website for search, this is purely for reporting.”

Why we care If you’ve noticed changes in this report, they may be related to these reporting changes in Search Console.

Again, this is a reporting change and not a change in how Google processes your website.

So, if you see errors, you can try to fix them later.
