Ludlow, Vt. – The Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce (OVRCC) recently held its 66th annual meeting at Seesaw’s Lodge. The Member and Volunteer of the Year 2023 were also announced and award certificates were handed out. M&T Bank generously sponsored this event.
Glenn Heitsmith of the Timber Inn Motel in Ludlow was honored as Member of the Year 2023, in recognition of his 2022 Travellers’ Choice Award from Trip Advisor, ranking in the top 10% of hotels in the world. Timber Inn was also a Chamber Member of the Month for its Hotels.com “Guest Loved” award. Glenn also recently served as moderator of the chamber’s legislative forum. In addition, he is also an active member of the community with organizations such as the Ludlow Rotary Club.

Amy Messina of Town & Country Realty in Ascutney was selected as the 2023 Volunteer of the Year for her outstanding efforts as chair of the chamber membership committee, helping to recruit many new chamber members last year . Amy also serves on the chamber’s board of directors. In addition, he also helped secure speakers for last year’s annual meeting and recruited Vermont State Treasurer Mike Pieciak to participate in the annual legislative forum. In terms of community involvement, Amy is the past president of the Windsor County Board of Realtors and has also been a member of the Vermont Domestic Violence Council for many years.
The meeting’s featured speaker was Mike Lannon of Eternity, who discussed the use of artificial intelligence to improve website search engine optimization and marketing. Betsy Bishop, President of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, also updated members on the impacts of the most recent legislative session on the business community. CPA Mike Wood, co-owner of the Golden Stage Inn, also briefed attendees on the Employee Withholding Tax Credit.
The event began with a meeting of the board of directors, followed by a general meeting of members. The list of officers and directors for the period 2023-2024 is unanimously approved. Jason Rasmussen of the Mount Ascutney Regional Commission was added as a new board member, with Allison Hopkins serving as an alternate. Art Randolph of M&T Bank was elected as the new treasurer, and Anna Tumber of Okemo was elected as the new secretary. Scott Duffy of Rockledge Farm Woodworks was thanked for his service on the board.
