Google Search Console may show more navigation path warnings

Google has updated their navigation path rich results report in Google Search Console to potentially display more warnings and warnings about structured data issues with your navigation path markup. This update began on June 8, 2023 and may result in an increase in the number of warnings displayed in this report.

What Google wrote. Google published the update and said:

“Search Console started showing a warning when sites use the HTML id attribute to specify an identifier for Breadcrumb structured data. As a result, you may see an increase in warnings in your Breadcrumb report. View the Breadcrumb documentation for more information on how to specify identifiers.”

Google Search navigation path. A navigation path in Google search is when Google shows the path of where the page is located within the site directly in the search results snippets. “A path trace on a page indicates the page’s position in the site hierarchy and can help users understand and explore a site effectively,” Google wrote.
