Google Ads API version 14 has been released with several important updates, including new features to support the move from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4.
Why we care Google Ads API version 14 offers an improved user experience by improving both campaign management and performance.
What’s new? These are just some of the highlights of the 2023 update.
Account-level negative keywords: This new feature will allow advertisers to retrieve, create and update negative keywords at the account level. This means users will be able to exclude specific keywords from targeting not just a single ad group or campaign, but an entire account.
New types of recommendations: This includes DynamicImageExtensionOptInRecommendation for advertisers whose accounts will benefit from enabling dynamic image extensions. It also includes LowerTargetRoasRecommendation and RaiseTargetCpaRecommendation, which will help users adjust their return on advertising investment.
New conversion action types: These new features will help advertisers identify conversions imported from Google Analytics and determine whether a conversion came from a GA4 or Universal Analytics property. This is especially important because GA4 will replace Universal Analytics on July 1st, so these changes must be reflected in the Google Ads API v14.
Offline Conversion Customer Summaries: This is a brand new field in the client resources that provides information about the offline conversion process, such as how many conversions were successfully uploaded and how many failed when the download jump was executed.
Keyword planning space: The Google Ads V14 API includes a new method called GenerateForecastKeywordMetrics, to support keyword forecast metrics without first creating a keyword plan.
What Google said. Mattia Tommasone, Senior Developer Relations Engineer on the Google Ads API team, told Search Engine Land:
“As you can see, there are many updates, changes, improvements, and new ways to retrieve information from the Google Ads API version 14. The ones we’ve mentioned are just some of the highlights. And we can’t wait to see you try out all the new features in this release.”
