It’s been said countless times over the years, and we’ll say it again: in SEO, content is king.
The importance of content has never been devalued by Google. However, the importance of quality content tends to become an increasingly important ranking factor.
This is where you say “Okay! But What does quality SEO content look like in 2022?“
And I answer you “Let me present you the recipe for good content as if you were in your kitchen ready to cook a tasty dish”.
1 – Include a reasonable number of keywords in your post
The first step is to do it select quality keywords which will serve as the basis of your article. Ideally, you should get your hands on keywords with good search volume and reasonable difficulty. Feel free to target long-tail keywords for short-term results.
You can start from a topic you have in mind by looking at search volumes on specific keywords, with a tool like this Semrush. Or you can search for a specific topic by exploring the possibilities with your favorite keyword research tool.
For example, to come up with this post idea, I didn’t really do anything original. I simply typed the word “SEO” into my tool.
After five minutes spent filtering the keywords to explore the possibilities, the topic was found.
Once your primary query has been found, look for secondary queries to solidify your semantics. By researching around the query “SEO content optimization,” Semrush returned interesting results to add to my post.
I solved it in a nice table that I share with you here:
once your list of keywords is established, integrate them into your post. You don’t need to repeat them at the beginning of every sentence, it would be unproductive. Make them appear naturally in your page’s important HTML tags and body text.
This will be the best SEO search engine optimization practice.
Finally, keep keyword density between 2% and 5% of your post’s total words.
Now that you have the tools, let’s get cooking.
Before tackling the main content of your post, focus on two of the most popular SEO tags: the title tagand the meta description tag.
The idea will be to fill them with your main keywords according to Google’s guidelines.
Let me give you an overview of the title/meta description tags of this post to see the correlation with my keyword research.
3 – Structure the post with explicit Hn tags
Let’s start getting closer to the heart of the recipe: the content itself!
when i write SEO contentI like to start my optimizations by describing Labels Hn.
Hn tags correspond to the headings of the different sections of your text. There are six in total, the most important being the H1 tag and the least important being the H6 tag.
The H1 The tag is usually unique, while for the other tags, there may be several. Usually, we usually use H1, H2, H3or even H4 tags based on content importance. The more subparts, the more you can increase your Hn tags. Unless you are publishing a nuclear physics essay online, H5 i H6 are rarely used.
So, here’s how I started writing this article:
web developer is the best tool if you want to quickly visualize the Hn tag structure of any web page
If you look closely, you’ll find that these Hn tags are made up of a mix of the search keywords we talked about earlier and words that came up naturally.
This is the tip that ends this part: optimize your Hn tags with keywords, but make sure they are relevant to the reader!
A good SEO post will ideally include a few images related to the main topic.
Optimize its weight/size, so your site’s loading speed is not affected. Name the images with a relevant title, all in lowercase, avoiding accents and using “-” to separate words.
And above all, don’t neglect your images’ high labels
The alt tag is alternative text that describes an image and is displayed when the image cannot be loaded. The goal is to tag your images by inserting one or more relevant keywords into their alt tag.
This tag has a fairly weak influence on the search engine ranking algorithm, but helps consolidate the weight of your content if filled correctly.

5 – Season with relevant content
Once your Hn structure is validated, you have the skeleton of your article! Now you need to write the content of the different parts.
Your goal shouldn’t just be to accumulate searched keywords. This technique has not worked for 15 years. You must maintain a good balance between the different components of your content, with:
Keywords researched,Rich and informative contentpreferably long and relevant (minimum 500 words or more depending on the competition).
In 2022, the average word count varies by page type:
Minimum 350 words for product/collection pages, minimum 500 words for service pages, 700 words and (much) more for blog articles.
The goal: to satisfy crawlers and your visitors. They need to find the information they’re looking for in your content. Give them as much relevant detail as possible and drive them to conversion.
This is true for both a lead-oriented site (forms, calls, etc.) and an e-commerce site.
For a lead generation site, optimize the content of your services/blog/home pages as a priority. For a business site, highlight the texts on your category pages and product pages, and your potential blog posts.
6 – Serve everything accompanied by semantic keywords
keywords help algorithms better understand your site’s content. They constitute the lexical field of your article.
Taking the current post as an example, if my main keyword is “How to optimize a post for SEO?” My semantics it relates to anything remotely close to this topic:
Title, meta description, Hn tags, keywords, number of keywords, alt tag, search engines, links…
All these semantic keywords will help Google better understand the main topic of this article.
Of course these semantic keywords it will have more weight on relevant and informative sentences.
7 – Immerse your content in a bath of links
In SEO, internal link is of great importance.
Crawlers follow all links made between pages on your site. Apart from your menu/footer, the textual links you make to your content are very important. They make indexing easier and help robots know what your pages are about.
So give them some love!
Avoid, with a few exceptions, generic link anchors such as “click here” or “learn more”. Rather, provide an overview of the topic covered in the article you are linking to.
8 – Use bold and italics (HTML) to highlight your keywords
The strong label is a semantic HTML tag. Its function is to mean that the content it contains is of great importance to the meaning of the text. By default, this tag bolds the words it contains. It also gives them visual importance.
Use it to reinforce the weight of your primary and secondary keywords and your semantics. Avoid bolding your keywords every time they appear, to avoid over-optimization. One or two boldfaces per important keyword is a good ratio.
Same principle for the label em (italics).which will rather serve to reinforce the importance of the lexical field linked to your topic.
In other words: don’t confuse these tags with HTML tags (bold) i (italics) that have no semantic weight. Same for bold or italic using CSS, which has no SEO weight.
9 – Keep it cool and enjoy!
Now you have all the cards in your hand to effectively write SEO friendly content.
But I have one last piece of advice for you, and not least.
While it is true that content that has been optimized for SEO from the start will bring you lasting traffic, the freshness of the content is also important.
Feel free to update your old content regularly and post new content frequently (via a blog for example). Google loves fresh and up-to-date content. This tells them that your site is alive and up to date. Conversely, a site that has never been updated will tend to be less visited by “explorers” and therefore lower in rankings.
