ANN ARBOR – Digital marketing guru Melih Oztalay, CEO of Smart Finds Marketing in Birmingham, returns to MITech TV to offer valuable tips for businesses looking to improve their online sales during the holidays.
The economy for the holidays
Despite the global recession and cost-of-living crisis, the 2022 holiday season will increase spending by 13.5%, according to Deloitte.
Leveraging Google’s organic traffic
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is your number one in digital marketing.
Keep in mind…about 35% of a website’s traffic…on average…comes from Google and most of it comes from web pages that are on the first page and towards the upper part Google’s RankBrain and Helpful Content algorithms are the source that leads to search results.
Conversion rate optimization (CRO is the second thing to do in digital marketing.
You can drive all website traffic to your desired website. If your website isn’t able to convert website visitors into leads or sales, it’s no use spending all your time on SEO or paid traffic.
Tips for your eCommerce website
Find the right keywords for the products you sell. Use tools like Google Trends and Google Search Suggestions. Focus on the content of your product web pages. Focus on user experience (UX). How is the website structured? How easily can someone move from one page to another? Focus on how fast your web pages load on a laptop and mobile device. Website visitors will only spend seconds on a web page if it doesn’t load quickly. Use tools like GTMetrix to help you identify any page loading issues. Measure, analyze and interpret… repeat the cycle. Tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console will point you in the right direction.
Last but not least: Outbound Marketing
You need to generate demand to get people to your website out of Google’s organic search results.
Social media marketing will be the key source you will want to tap into. Engage in other people’s posts… don’t just like them… add a comment. Make sure you have enough content….blog posts (yours and others), photos, images, videos, etc.
