Google has fixed issues with the link report in Google Search Console. Last week, we reported an error with this link report that Google was investigating. Early this morning, the mistake appeared to have been made resolvedand the link counts in this tool seem to be back to where they were.
What happened. Last week, many SEOs noticed that the link report was showing a fraction of their links reported in this tool. Some even saw their link count go to zero. However, many noticed drops in links that the tool reported to be between 40% and 90% of their normal link count.
For example, one of my sites previously had 287,000 links, then suddenly dropped to 177,000 links, and as of this morning is back to over 288,000 links.
Here’s a screenshot of the tool this morning:
This is what it was when there was an error:

Why we care This link report is now fixed and you should see your normal link count there. This was just a reporting error and should have no real impact on your Google search ranking.
