The Google Search Console link report may have been broken today

Google Search Console’s link report may be broken or Google may have decided to report fewer links in this tool. Many are seeing a huge drop in the number of links the tool shows them compared to last week.

More details As of Monday, May 27, many SEOs began to take notice a descent in the number of links that are being reported and then as of this morning, many are realizing massive declinessome even showing no links that are reported in the tool.

I’m seeing a 40% reduction in reported links today compared to just a few days ago.

Here is my link report for today:

Here’s a screenshot of the same report from May 27:

Bug or feature. Google hasn’t commented on this issue yet, so either it’s some kind of reporting bug, like we saw yesterday with the product snippets report, or it’s a feature where Google just shows fewer links .

Either way, you’re not alone, everyone is seeing a big drop in the number of links reported in Google Search Console reports.

Why we care The truth is, I don’t think you need to worry about that. Everyone is seeing the decrease in the number of links. This is just a report and does not directly influence your ranking in Google Search.

So, keep working on your website and creating content that matters, and maybe focus less on those bug reports?
