Google Shopping ads receive conversion annotations

Google is encouraging merchants to turn on “conversion annotations,” social proof badges that highlight the popularity of a product purchase when displayed in Google Shopping ads.

What’s new. Conversion annotations such as “top seller” or “1K recently purchased here” provide visual cues about a product’s sales performance right in your ad unit.

Why we care Conversion annotations encourage advertisers to share valuable purchase data with Google to increase visibility. But they will have to weigh the benefits against data privacy concerns.

Merchants must have conversion tracking enabled in Google Merchant Center to be eligible. Google says the data allows it to “be more creative and innovative to help you stand out.”
