Google Search has now made it harder to find the number of search results for a search query. Instead of being displayed in the search bar at the top of the search results, you now have to click the “tools” button to display the result count number.

To see the results, you need to click on “Tools” at the top right of the bar, and then you’ll see Google show you the estimated result count:

previous tests Google has been testing the removal of result counting for years, as far back as 2016 and perhaps earlier. Google also removed them from the SGE results One year ago.
So it looks like it’s on Google’s roadmap to remove the feature.
In fact, Google has said numerous times that the result count is only an estimate and not a good figure to base any real research and SEO audits on.
Why we care Many SEOs still use result counts to estimate keyword competitiveness, audit indexing, and many other purposes. If this goes away completely, many SEOs will not be happy. Although, I doubt Google cares too much if SEOs are happy.
If the result count is not accurate, Google may decide to remove it anyway.
