Google Map Navigation

Optimizing a website for local searches allows a website to appear for local users searching for your services or products.

Changes are coming to Google Search soon. Read more about how search engine optimization strategies should be adapted.

HOUSTON, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, October 7, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Everyone knows that Google often makes tiny changes to their algorithm almost daily. However, whenever a major update affects users and owners, it will announce it publicly so everyone is on the same page. During Google’s annual Search On conference, the parent company announced seven new features and updates it was making to local search.

Local search is the process of finding information about a company or service within a specific geographic region. Local results are usually shown with a map and a list of businesses. Businesses are sorted by proximity to the user’s location. For example, if someone searches for “pizza” on Google, a list of nearby pizzerias will appear with their address, phone number, and rating.

Seven new Google updates coming soon will improve and impact the way people explore neighborhoods, businesses, and restaurants using Google Search. These significant changes will include the following:

-Restaurant search by dish
– Discover the restaurant’s specialties
– Increased support for digital menus
-Increases for live viewing of Google Maps
-Aerial views of famous places
– Immersive view
– Neighborhood “vibration” checks

Businesses can expect these changes to be implemented over the coming weeks and months. It is best to start preparations to take advantage of relevant changes to make your business more visible to users. While some of the changes are self-explanatory, Google went into more detail about how some will change how searches work.

1. Search for restaurants by dish

Now, the first update to the menu is the user’s ability to search for restaurants by specific dishes instead of just by style of food. Instead of searching for “Indian food” or “Asian food” when they’re craving a specific dish, they can just search for that dish. For example, a user will soon be able to search for “chicken alfredo near me” and Google will display a list of nearby restaurants that have it on their menu. Users will also be able to be more specific with their filters for vegetarian dishes, spicy dishes and many others.

2. Discovering the restaurant’s specialties

Each restaurant has a quality that makes them special. Those who have visited the restaurant in person can identify it more easily because they have experienced it for themselves. However, those viewing the restaurant from behind a screen cannot do so easily. Reviews and ratings only tell part of the story.

The next of Google’s updates aims to help users view and rate restaurants to understand what makes them unique. One of the main visual changes is that they add a “People Say” highlight at the top of the screen. The search engine will use machine learning to analyze images and reviews to find out what makes a local restaurant stand out from the crowd.

3. Increased support for digital menus

Google wants to support local restaurants more in this round of updates because the third major change will be updating how it supports digital menus. The search engine will expand its coverage, improving it with richer images and keeping it updated. It will add more digital menus without any additional work on the part of restaurant owners.

Its advanced algorithms will combine user and merchant information and match what it finds on restaurant websites. This update will allow Google to show the restaurant’s most popular dishes and highlight various dietary options, such as vegetarian and vegan.

4. Increased live view of Google Maps

The “Live View” feature was added a couple of years ago, allowing users to navigate directions around the neighborhood through the phone’s camera viewfinder. With upcoming changes, it will soon be possible to search for things using Live View. For example, a user will soon be able to search for the nearest ATM while walking to their destination using Live View.

Live View will also detect different places like coffee shops, grocery stores, public transportation, etc. A user will be able to see the business hours, current occupancy of the site and see more relevant details after tapping on it. This feature will be available for the first time in London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Paris and Tokyo in the coming months.

5. Add aerial views of famous landmarks

One of the first features that are immediately available to users are aerial views of famous landmarks around the world. They added over 250 photorealistic images of these landmarks for users to view. While they didn’t elaborate on what was added, they simply stated that the collection “[spans] everything from Tokyo Tower to the Acropolis.”

6. Upgrade to an immersive view

Users have heard of ‘street view’ and now Google is adding ‘immersive view’. Immersive vision will allow users to take a look inside buildings and other establishments. It will also tell users how busy a place will be and what the weather will be like on a given date and time, so they don’t have to search for it separately. This feature will be available first in London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo.

7. Visualize the neighborhoods as a whole

Last but not least, Google announced a new feature focused on neighborhoods. The search engine will highlight what’s new in the area, some local gems, and what’s worth exploring in the neighborhood. It will include helpful photos and information from the Google Maps community, which will appear as you navigate the neighborhood.

Although these features seem small, they will change the way searches work. No need to rework any streams digital marketing strategies. However, companies should consider how they might affect the way users find them and make the necessary adjustments.
