Google says that publishing more content does not improve quality for faster indexing

A couple of weeks ago, Google’s Gary Illyes and Lizzi Sassman had Dave Smart as a guest on the Search Off The Record podcast and they he was talking about crawling. In one part, they again said that the quality of your site can affect how quickly and how much Google will crawl your website.

It’s a topic we covered many times, so I decided not to bring it up again.

So yes, Google will probably crawl your site more often if Google considers your pages important and high quality enough. Plus, of course, if you need to crawl to find new content.

But as Google’s John Mueller pointed out LinkedIn, “I see some people trying to change this, pushing their content to be crawled more often, so Google will think it’s good. IT DOESN’T WORK THAT WAY, IT MAKES NO SENSE. HELLO.” His analogy: “Your kids won’t grow to love kale if you force it down their throats the same way they shove ice cream in their faces.”

And yes, this is also something Google said before. Google said that content frequency above is not a ranking signal and posting more content doesn’t help you rank better.
