Google is re-investigating issues with recipe images and other images not appearing in some places in Google Search results. We reported several issues with recipe sites several weeks ago and it seems to be happening again on some of these sites.
I’m not sure if it’s related to Google penalizing some recipe sites for improper use of recipe markup or if it’s a bug with Google Search.
There are complaints from mainly recipe sites, but also from other sites about this problem.
Here is the subjectwhere a site’s recipe image doesn’t show up in search results:
Danny Sullivan, the Google search link, responded to one of the complaints X saying, “I’ve had a few reports of that, so I’ll pass on it.” Yes, I’ve seen several other reports of this, here’s another one:
@rustybrick Thumbnails on link snakes for food bloggers (presumably other niches too) are disappearing again. Have you seen any of this? It happens to me too.

Again, not sure if this is a bug or something intentional, but I’m seeing more complaints about image thumbnails not showing up in search results again.
