Both Semrush and SimilarWeb’s RankRanger tool report that Google is showing fewer sitelinks in Google search results. In fact, it appeared to have dropped by 10 to 20 percentage points. The descent began on Thursday, March 14.
What are sitelinks? The links you see in the main search results list: These may be larger or smaller sitelinks. Here is a screenshot of the sitelinks:
Here’s what SimilarWeb tool shows, sitelinks went from showing 63% to about 41%:
Here’s what Semrush tool sample, sitelinks went from showing 68% to about 58%:
It looks like the Moz tool hasn’t been updated so I can’t share data with it.
Brodie Clark posted X about it saying: “Google is now showing dramatically fewer sitelinks for pages in Search. From what I can see, this seems to be due to a test where sitelinks aren’t showing for pages at all. It’s good to keep in mind if you notice changes in your GSC data.”
Discussion in the forum a X.
