This week we covered a new potential update to Google’s search rankings that began rolling out on Wednesday, February 7th. Google’s Danny Sullivan again said that search quality improvements are coming in the near future. Google said it will clarify EEAT and its search quality rankers. Google explained the differences between ranking systems, ranking factors and ranking signals. Google said that the basic vital elements of the web are not a ranking factor. Google no longer shows web stories in image search. Google has a popular product spam problem in search. A blogger said that Google penalized a legitimate guest blog post. Google revised its initial SEO guide, as expected. Google said its dynamic search ad tracker is now being tracked less frequently. Google may have a sitemap error with hyphenated sitemap filenames. Sullivan and Mueller have internal newsletters they write for Google. Google is testing a “web results” button in the search menu. I saw Bing’s Deep Search in the wild, and it was blah, and not long after, Microsoft pulled the Deep Search test. Copilot got an update codenamed Deucalion. Google is testing a pop-up shopping carousel in search. Google Business Profiles includes new activity and event forms. Google business profiles can be deleted using a Local Services Ads loophole. Google Ads has a bug with confusing text and updating credit cards. Google Ads will no longer support commission offers for hotel ads. Microsoft Advertising expanded improved conversions, updated RSA and more. Google AdSense seems to be switching all publishers to CPM bidding.
