Google has confirmed that it is investigating an indexing issue affecting a “small number of sites” to show up in Google Search results in a timely manner. The issue appears to have started around 11:30 PM ET on Monday, January 31, where some sites experienced indexing issues with Google Search.
Confirmation from Google. Google published a confirmation of the issue at 4:42am ET this morning:
What to do. If you notice that your new or updated content isn’t showing up in Google Search as quickly as it normally would, you know it’s not necessarily a problem on your end. Google has a technical issue that it is working on to fix indexing issues affecting some publishers.
Who is affected Google said this affects a “small number of sites”. But there seems to be a lot of complaints about indexing issues in the last few hours. I posted some of these complaints on the Search Engine Roundtable Blog.
Danny Sullivan, the Google search link, did respond to one of them:
Why we care Unfortunately, like any software company, Google Search has bugs. Google is working to resolve the issue. For now, wait for Google to post that the issue has been resolved to confirm that your new content is showing up in Google Search in a timely manner.
