Google Sitemaps ping endpoints no longer work

Google Robot Ping Pong Racket

Google has officially deprecated webmap ping endpoints. Now, when you try to access it, Google says “Sitemaps ping is deprecated”, with a link to the post about it disappearing.

Here is a screenshot of the error:

Google Sitemap Ping deprecated

Google told us a few months ago that it will stop working now, and Google kept its word.

Nilaye Thakrar, SEO Manager at Staples.caI saw it and posted it LinkedIn.

Google initially said it was removing this feature because “they aren’t very useful” and the “vast majority of submissions lead to spam.” Google recommends that you use this feature to get new content discovered faster by Google Search.

So those who used this sitemap ping feature can no longer. I have many more details in our original story.
