Google Product Structured Data now supports the suggested Age property

Google officially supports the suggestedAge property as an alternative to suggestedMaxAge and suggestedMinAge within its structured product data. Google says it added this support to make it more flexible for people to specify age ranges for a product.

Google noticed this change this way saying: “Added support for the suggestedAge property as an alternative to suggestedMaxAge and suggestedMinAge.” Google also noted that it has “clarified the list of possible values for age ranges in our Structured product data documentation.”

Truthfully, I still don’t see these changes noted and when I wrote this, the documentation link seems to go to the wrong place, but hopefully when you read this, you’ll see the update. (Update – now fixed…)

Google said it made the change to “make it easier and more flexible for people to specify age ranges for a product.” Google also made this change because “the previous wording was confusing and didn’t fit well with Merchant Center’s documentation on product age ranges.”

I see the max and min age properties mentioned in Google Merchant Center Structured Data Documentssays: “Use the audience property to specify a PeopleAudience object that specifies the age group using its suggestedMinAge and suggestedMaxAge properties.”

You can see this documented in the Google Merchant Center tab:

Google Products Structured Data Suggestions Tab

Then you see it here:

Google Product Structured Data Suggestion

Here are the age groups documented there, but the new “suggestedAge” property is still not mentioned:
