Broken Google Search home page on Android devices with Firefox

Broken Google Search home page on Android devices with Firefox

Currently, the Google home page is broken on some Android devices that use Firefox mobile as their browser. The Google home page loads a blank screen.

Google has confirmed the issue and is working to fix it.

What Google said. Google published the issue in their search status panel which read: “There is an ongoing issue with the Google home page for Firefox users on Android devices. The issue has no effect on the appearance of sites on Google Search. We’ve identified the issue and are working on a fix. The next update will be in 12 hours.”

What’s the problem. From the complaints both in the Google Forums i Reddit, searches using Firefox on Android devices see blank or partially blank Google homepages. Here are some screenshots:

Google will fix. Google wants searchers to be able to search Google from their home page, and I suspect this bug will be fixed soon.

The impact This does not affect ranking or indexing, but may affect your traffic. For now, Android Firefox users won’t be able to easily find you through Google Search. But I suspect it’s a small percentage of your total traffic.

Why we care If you notice a drop in traffic from this user segment, that’s why. Don’t worry, this is Google’s problem and there’s nothing you can do about it.
