Google reiterates that there are changes to deal with search spam

Google Security Robot

Danny Sullivan, the Google Search Link, posted this morning that the search company has changes to better deal with the recent flood of search spam we’ve all been seeing in search results. He said sometimes it takes time to implement these changes, but they are on their way.

This is in response to Lily Ray sharing more examples of spam appearing in Google Search results. she wrote X“Just google ‘best jelly beans for weight loss’ to see how rampant Google’s spam problem is right now. This totally incoherent website that is full of spam and affiliate links ranks #2. Then some #4 ranked .edu sites that redirect to spam sites.”

To which Sullivan responded X“Both of these situations are covered in what was shared earlier here. To recap, we have changes to better deal with these situations. We are aware of it. We are taking steps to address it. Sometimes it takes time to ensure the solutions we put in place they will scale and perform well.”

It refers to their previous communication about this situation, which we covered in our story called Google: We have taken steps to deal with parasitic SEO and more to come.

So, those of you who are really upset about spam overtaking your non-spam content in Google Search results; maybe there will be some change soon that will reverse all this? At least we hope…

Here are those posts:

Are you sure we’ll see something from Google Search on this front soon?
