Google does not use the term SEO Parasite internally

There has been a lot of talk about parasitic SEO over the past few months in the SEO community. Heck, we even saw it mentioned in the notes that Danny Sullivan shared with the Google Search team. But just a heads up, Google does not use the term “SEO Parasite” internally at Google.

Danny Sullivan, the Google search link, said so mastodon. When asked about the term Parasite SEO, he said, “By the way, that’s not the term we would use internally. I was referring to how some people talk about it externally.”

Onreact on Masotodon told Sullivan that “parasite SEO is when a site is hacked for SEO purposes. Even that’s a misnomer because you either fix or break things. You can’t optimize something while harming it at the same time . What does Danny mean here. it’s SEO on horseback. The site in question doesn’t get damaged.” This is where Danny Sullivan responded: “That’s not the term we would use internally, by the way. I was referring to how some people talk about it externally.”
