Google’s John Mueller answered a question about whether business blogs are eligible to appear in Google News.

Google News can be a great source of readers interested in reading published news and can serve as a basis for a steady stream of advertising revenue.
And while “news” is generally found on news websites, is it possible for a business blog to appear on Google News?
That’s the question someone asked at the recent Google Office Hours for December 2023.
The person who asked the question asked:
“Are business-owned blogs eligible for Google News Feed?”
Google’s John Mueller responded:
“I can’t speak directly to Google News, as I work in Search, which is a bit different, but looking at their content policiesI don’t see anything specific to company blogs.
If you’re curious as to whether or not this is an option, I recommend asking the Help community for news editors. And, if you’re curious if your pages are already showing up in Google News, I’d take a look at performance reports in Search Console.”
Google News Content Policies
Mueller is correct that there is nothing specific to company blogs in the policies. However, those interested in entering Google News, including a company blog, should take a look at the content policies because there are recommendations that are useful to know.
Aside from policies about not misleading readers, etc., there are other requirements to consider regarding content policies for news websites:
“Clarifying dates and rules Information about the authors, the publication and the publisher Information about the company or network behind the content Contact information”
But is having it enough to get a business blog into Google News?
Enter Google News
Google News may be accessed by passively posting news content to a company’s blog. from Google Publisher Center help page says that Google can automatically discover news content.
However, it can be helpful to be more proactive by visiting Google publishing center where there is a way to submit a URL for inclusion in Google News.
Does Google publish company blogs in news?
In fact, Google publishes news content from company blogs.
For example, here’s a screenshot of a security company whose content is on Google News.

And here’s a screenshot of an Adobe company webpage that also shows up in Google News:
Clearly, dedicated news sites dominate Google News. But company websites that also publish news also appear in Google News, so it’s possible.
