Chennai: Hindu religious endowments and charitable endowments minister PK Sekarbabu on Monday said the AIADMK seemed desperate to get the DMK’s alliance partners into its fold.
Former AIADMK minister D Jayakumar had on Sunday stated that the party’s doors were closed for the BJP but were open for other national parties, including the Congress and Communist parties. Jayakumar said that the national parties in alliance with the DMK were unhappy with the way the DMK was functioning and would surely join the AIADMK.
“The AIADMK seems desperate to lure the DMK alliance parties into its fold,” Sekarbabu told reporters in Chennai. He inspected the steps taken for the ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ to be celebrated on December 23 at the Parthasarathy Temple in Triplicane. After the visit, while talking to reporters, Sekarbabu said that there would be no special darshans at the Parthasarathy temple.
“In Tiruvannamalai, the special darshan during new moon days was suspended for four months and similarly, for this year’s Vaikunta Ekadasi at the Parthasarathy temple, the special darshan will be done away with,” said Sekarbabu.
He said the concept of special darshan would be phased out across the state.
