The November 2023 Google Reviews Update is now live

Google confirmed that the November 2023 review update is now complete. This update, announced on November 8, 2023, was implemented over a period of 29 days.

No more ads. This will be the last time Google will confirm an update to the review system/algorithm. “We will no longer provide periodic notifications of improvements to our review system,” the company said. Google has confirmed a total of 8 review updates since the first review update released in April 2021.

What’s new. While Google won’t confirm future updates, updates are happening at a “regular and continuous pace,” according to the company. This makes it appear that the review update is now more of a real-time update. Therefore, changes to your ratings, for better or for worse, can be reflected with this review system in real time rather than in batches.

This update is a global update that affects sites in these languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Russian, Dutch, Portuguese, and Polish.

Overlapping November Core Update. Google simultaneously released the November 2023 Core Update, which was completed on November 28. Sites may see an impact from both the core update and the review update. It can be difficult to know which update affected your site.

Updates to previous reviews. Here are all the updates from previous reviews:

Why we care If your website publishes any kind of review content, this will be an important update to watch. Check your rankings to see if your organic traffic is improving, decreasing, or staying the same.

In the future, it may be difficult to know whether updates to these revisions, which will be ongoing and non-revealing, have affected your site.
