Google Search Console’s link report may be broken or Google may have decided to report fewer links in this tool. Many are seeing a huge drop in the number of links the tool shows them compared to last week.<\/p>\n

More details <\/strong>As of Monday, May 27, many SEOs began to take notice a descent<\/a> in the number of links that are being reported and then as of this morning, many are realizing massive declines<\/a>some even showing no links that are reported in the tool.<\/p>\n

I’m seeing a 40% reduction in reported links today compared to just a few days ago.<\/p>\n

Bug or feature. <\/strong>Google hasn’t commented on this issue yet, so either it’s some kind of reporting bug, like we saw yesterday with the product snippets report, or it’s a feature where Google just shows fewer links .<\/p>\n

Either way, you’re not alone, everyone is seeing a big drop in the number of links reported in Google Search Console reports.<\/p>\n

Why we care <\/strong>The truth is, I don’t think you need to worry about that. Everyone is seeing the decrease in the number of links. This is just a report and does not directly influence your ranking in Google Search.<\/p>\n

So, keep working on your website and creating content that matters, and maybe focus less on those bug reports?<\/p>\n
