He added: &#8220;There&#8217;s also an element of &#8216;what if the URL returns&#8217;, but that&#8217;s less relevant.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This came about when Adam Gent &#8220;noticed that Google may remove canonical data (both user-selected and Google-selected) for pages that were indexed and moved to &#8216;crawled, currently not indexed,'&#8221; he wrote .He asked, &#8220;Is it a reporting error or does your index end up dropping data points like the canonical metrics?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gary confirmed that this is the case.  Gary wrote: &#8220;We keep (almost) no data for de-indexing\/de-indexing, this Search Console has nothing to show.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Adam Gent replied: &#8220;I&#8217;ve seen deindexed pages with canonical data, but my guess is that at this scale, the data just needs to be slowly removed from the index for each page. That&#8217;s why some have data. and others don&#8217;t.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gary responded to this saying: &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to go into the details because it will confuse everyone and my grandma unless I give even more context which will be just as confusing without any other context, but yeah, that&#8217;s basically it.
